
The Department of Applied Sciences is an integral component of the academic ecosystem of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad. The department conducts postgraduate and research programs in Bioinformatics and Biomedical engineering. The courses that are conducted as such are offered for students aspiring undergraduate (5-year dual degree), post graduate (2-year program) and PhD program. The department also contributes to various courses in physics and mathematics running in other departments of the institute.
The Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT-A) was established in 1999, as a Center of Excellence in Information Technology and allied areas. The Institute was conferred the “Deemed University” status by Govt. of India in 2000 and it was declared as an “Institute of National Importance” by the Act of the Parliament, Govt. of India in 2014. The Institute has been conceived with the objective of developing professional expertise and skilled manpower in information technology and areas of allied research.
